Shopping Spree

As I alluded to in this post, I went shopping on Saturday (after getting my hair cut and colored) and bought several new staples for my wardrobe, all for a steal and from my favorite store, New York and Company.

Before I show you the goods (and the prices) a word about my shopping habits:  I tend to buy clothes three or four times a year and little else between trips.  Saturday was one such trip.  I had been saving a fifty dollar gift card to NY&C from J for my birthday and a twenty five Visa gift card from my boss for the holidays and when I received a coupon in the mail for thirty percent off any purchase fifty dollars or more last week, I knew I'd be making one of my trips!  A few weeks prior I had scoped out our local New York and Company store to see what items they were currently carrying.  I usually want to buy up the whole store when I'm there, so just looking and making mental notes of the things I really liked helped and sleeping on it for a few days, or in this case, weeks, really helped when it came time to actually buy clothes.

For 128.32, I got two new pairs of dress paints, a new cardigan, a three quarter sleeve button down shirt for work or play and a mustard yellow shell.  Here's the full breakdown:

Mustard yellow shell: $9.99 (on clearance from 19.99), this shell will look great layered with a cardigan for work or a jacket for going out.

Three-quarters length button down shirt: $10.48 (originally $29.95), this is another work-play shirt that I can see pairing with a scarf, skinny jeans and flats for running errands on the weekends or with a belt, dress paints and high heels for work!

Striped white and navy cardigan: $27.96 (originally $39.95):  yet another work-play item (are you sensing a theme here?) that I actually wore yesterday under a navy cotton shirt with a gray scarf and black dress pants.

Gray dress pants: $34.96 (originally 49.95)
Black with blue pinstripe: $34.96 (originally 49.95)

The dress pants were by far the biggest expense but I haven't bought dress pants in over a year, mainly because I can find any that fit due to my short stature (5'2") so I felt comfortable spending the additional money.  Before I bought these pants, I had four dress pants: one khaki, one black pants, one dark gray, one black hounds-tooth.  In warmer climates this might be sufficient but in this part of the world when the company dress code is business casual, a girl needs some more options that will keep her from freezing her you-know-what off!

These still need to be hemmed but the fit is really nice and I'm hoping they will last me for years to come!

What do you think?  Have you gotten any good deals lately?  Let's hear it!

P.S. This clever lady, this lovely gal and I will be starting our own 30 for 30 fashion challenge starting tomorrow. Stay tuned for details!

  2. I've never heard of New York and Co (I swear, Oregon is the LAST place in the US to get stores) ... but these are great finds! I really like that stripey cardigan.

  3. Honey, you need a red scarf for that stripey cardy. I've always been happy with purchases from NY&Co.

  4. @ Ashly: Bummer! It is my go to store, I don't know what I'd do without it :)

@ Jenn: I don't think I heard of them until I moved to the Midwest and if they have them in CA now, they didn't when I was there. I hope some pop up in Oregon soon!

@ Mollie: Most definitely! My mustard yellow scarf will have to tide me over in the meantime :)
