Saturday Night

After spending two weekends away (one to South Bend and one to Peoria), it is nice to be home for a change!  Yet somehow, I still have managed to stay fairly busy.  Here's what I've been up to:

Friday:
  • Ventured to a local Asian food store to buy some ingredients for homemade miso soup (the Hondashi in the photo above) and some other Asian essentials for the next time we have a sushi night--photos and details to follow!
  • Got my car stuck in the snow behind our house
  • With the help of some good friends, got said car out of the snow
  • Watched The Business of Being Born on Netflix Instant
Saturday:
  • Attended a coffee cupping with the friends who had come to my rescue the night before
  • Got my hair cut and colored--photos coming soon!
  • Bought some new clothes from New York and Company--photos and details tomorrow!
  • Started watching The Pillars of the Earth
On the docket:
  • Dinner with some friends at a local sushi restaurant
  • Church
  • Cupcakes with my little from Big Brothers, Big Sisters
  • Making guacamole and blackberry pie for the Super Bowl party we are attending
  • Watching the Super Bowl
What's on your agenda this weekend, friends?

  1. Mmmmmmm...I love sushi! We just had it this week. What kinds do you like? I love the blackened tuna roll and the Nemo roll. I'm not even sure if those are standard rolls or just at the place we go to. :-)

  2. The Business of Being Born is a GREAT movie. Seriously made me rethink any hospital births for my future babies.

  3. @ Kim: I really love nigri (raw fish on rice paddies) and any roll that has eel or tempura :)

@ Every Little Thing: I couldn't agree more. Very interesting and thought-provoking movie!

  4. KT,
Sorry to hear about your car getting stuck. I did that the other day and I was stuck for over 2 hours. I thought I was going to have to call a tow truck....so not fun!

  5. First, I found the Business of Being Born to be very interesting. I realize it was very biased, but still some very valid points worth discussing.

Second, I am jealous of your NY&C shopping - can't wait to see what you picked up.

Third, we've been considering doing the Big Brother/Sister thing. How have you found it to be?

  6. Blackberry pie? YUMMY!
We hosted a poker party last night so I made tons of food for that. Today we are chilling at home and cleaning up from the party!
    Looking forward to Superbowl comercials!

  8. @ Ashly: Thanks! It is definitely not fun!

@ Lindsay: I have really enjoyed my experience with BBBS so far. We've been matched about 7 months and she is a great kid. The time commitment is about four hours a month--we usually have outings every other Saturday. Let me know if you have any more questions, I'd be happy to help!

@ Amy: The poker party sounds like fun! I definitely enjoyed the commercials, even if the boys were talking a lot during them since they were so focused and quiet when the game was on :)

@ {av}: Thanks! I hope you had a great weekend as well :)
